Whether your living alone, your family and friends are all away or you’re simply just feeling a little down in the dumps, watching youtube videos can really make you feel less lonely.
This might sound crazy but I don’t even care. When I was living alone in Sydney (a city where I did few friends because I moved there for work for 12 months) I found real comfort in watching certain youtube channels. Don’t get me wrong, watching TV is great, but personally, I feel you get more of a connection watching someones vlog compared to an episode of Gossip Girl.
I have recently begun living alone again, which I love but sometimes the silence is a bit much. I use to feel this way when I would spend my weekends studying. After hours of silence, I needed to hear someone’s voice talking about normal things.
This is why youtube channels are amazing. There are literally so many channels out there that there will be at least one you connect with.
Here are some of my favourite channels to watch when I am feeling lonely or need a study break.
Dani is a UK born girl in her early 20s. She moved back to the UK from Melbourne in the past year and now lives in Brighton with her pug dog Beans who is just adorable.
I originally started watching Dani a few years ago when her channel was mostly beauty focused. At the time I was obsessed with makeup tutorials and Dani was one of the few Australian beauty YouTubers out there.
Over the past few years, her channel has grown as she has. It’s now this beautiful mix of self-love tips, travel diaries and life admin. Dani talks about things we are all going through or have been through and she is really easy to relate to.
The best part is that she lives alone too, on the other side of the world to her family so she understands the lonely feels and touches on ways to feel comfortable on your own.
Last week she uploaded a video titled: how to be a happy, motivated, successful & positive person every day. I really recommend watching it if you’re feeling a bit sad, unmotivated or just off.
Sarah is a health-based youtuber however she provides so much more value than just workouts and healthy recipes. She is a total boss babe, a mumma to be (literally probably will be a mum by the time this is posted) and a self-love advocate.
For anyone who is feeling a little lonely but not into drinking and partying all the time as your friends might be, Sarah is the youtube friend you have been looking for.
Sarah speaks about bullying, peer pressure, bad break-ups, self-care as well as a crazy amount of interesting health and fitness tips. I would recommend having a look back at her older videos because there are so many.
One of my fav videos of Sarah’s is HEALTHY HABITS!! Changing BAD HABITS you didn’t even know you had… Part 1.
Ryland & Morgan Adams
Now officially these are two separate youtube channels however they are siblings and always in each other’s videos.
There isn’t much self-love tips or any educational value in their videos but they just make my heart happy. Whenever I am feeling low, I put on one of their videos and just smile.
Ryland is in his late 20’s and lives in LA with his boyfriend Shane Dawson (another youtuber). Morgan is in her early 20s and just moved to LA from Colorado. Their channels are filled with videos about them going on funny adventures, trying new trends and just doing outrageous things. They are not your typical LA youtubers who seem fake and unrelatable.
If you want to have some giggles have a look at these videos:
Ryland’s channel: I WORE JEFFREE STAR’S CLOTHES FOR A WEEK
BRITTNEY LEE SAUNDERS
Brittney lives north of Sydney and is the definition of a hustler. She runs a successful clothing label, a youtube channel and is a great chick.
Her videos are funny, easy to watch and I find them inspiring. Watching a young girl create her own little empire is motivating and empowering.
I love watching Brittney’s hauls (especially Kmart ones) and her vlogs.
One of my favourite youtube videos from Brittney is HOW TO GET FREE DESSERT IN NEW YORK CITY!
I have no idea how I came across Emma’s youtube channel but I am so happy I did. She has a lot of videos so you defiantly won’t run out of things to watch.
Emma lives in the UK and is mainly a fashion channel but she has beautiful interior design skills and some amazing travel vlogs. She lives with her husband and a house full of adorable dogs.
My favourite videos on Emma’s youtube channel are her travel vlogs. When I am feeling lonely or a little miserable watching someone have some fun on vacation really brings my mood up. The ones I love to watch most are her Disney travel videos. her latest one is First Day At Walt Disney World | Magic Kingdom.
I hope you all get a little pick me up from these videos. Obviously youtube videos aren’t going to fix all the problems in your life, but they can give you a little company when your alone or just need a distraction.
I would love to know of youtube channels you watch when you need a pick me up. Let me know in the comments.
