In the two years since ME ME ME, national sweetheart Charlotte Crosby could not have been busier. Her jam-packed TV schedule has included appearances on some of the nation’s favourite shows such as Celebrity Juice and This Morning, she is the presenter of MTV’s new hit show Just Tattoo of Us and is now the face of her very own make-up range, Flique.
Here in BRAND NEW ME Charlotte talks us through an incredibly busy year, making us laugh as ever with her funny moments (like when her mum woke up on Christmas morning to find her passed out naked by her new swimming pool) but also opening up about the difficult months surrounding her shock departure from Geordie Shore, betrayal and her heartbreaking ectopic pregnancy. After working through her loss by bravely speaking out, she is now an ambassador of the Eptopic Pregnancy Trust, helping raise awareness of the symptoms so other women can get early treatment and help if they find themselves going through a similar experience.
So welcome to BRAND NEW ME, the next chapter in Charlotte’s life: businesswoman, TV presenter, charity spokesperson, stronger than ever, inspiring us with her work ethic, smashing it with her style and still making us wet our pants laughing.
Why I chose to purchase this book:
I purchased this book on my kindle while on holidays in Europe. I read the entire thing on the flights home. Autobiographies are my thing. Finding out about peoples lives, their real thoughts and feelings really entertains me.
This isn’t Charlotte Crosby’s first book, it’s actually her third. Brand New Me was written around a year after Charlotte’s first book, Me Me Me. Recently I re-read this book and had lots of laughs all over again.
Thoughts:
If your sitting there thinking who the hell is Charlotte Crosby, then here is a quick back story. She is 29 years old and was one of the funniest personalities on the reality show Geordie Shore. Since Geordie Shore, she has gone on to own her own fitness DVD empire, Â host another MTV show and win Celebrity Big Brother.
The chapters in the book are broken up into months. I’m a massive fan of this type of writing as it makes it easy to follow. You’re not jumping backwards and forwards trying to work out what’s going on.
The book begins in January 2016 and continues until March 2017.
Before jumping into January, Charlotte has a little introduction, a calendar of contents and a guide to who’s who and what’s what. The calendar of contents in awesome. If you are a fan of Charlotte you are going to love this book. She is just such a laugh and it comes across in her writing. For each month, Charlotte gives a little summary of what to expect. For example, F is for February and Fit boys and Festivals. Then there is a little paragraph of what to expect. As a reader, this got me excited to keep reading, it’s probably why I ended up reading it all so quickly actually.
Having a who’s who and what’s what chapter makes reading the rest of the book ten times easier. All of the important people mentioned in the book are explained in detail. Charlotte goes through 30 people in this chapter. If you’re a bit of a reality tv fan like myself then this chapter will get you pumped. Charlotte mentions people not only from Geordie Shore but Made in Chelsea, The Only Way is Essex and Ex on the beach.
Once you get into the actual book (the months) it has a real Bridget Jones’s Diary vibe. The chapter starts with some little how many times lines and some emojis to sum up Charlotte’s current mood. The remainder of the chapter is separated into days. The book flows perfectly and there were a number of times I found myself laughing out loud.
Charlotte is very honest throughout the entire book. She hits on some very emotional and scary moments. Brand New Me is a mix of the funny Charlotte Crosby we all love seeing on TV and the raw, emotional, Charlotte that is kept a little more private.
Should you read it?
Yes! If you are looking for a really easy, enjoyable read then I can’t recommend Brand New Me enough. I was pleasantly surprised to learn so much about ectopic pregnancy as well as the behind the scenes of reality tv.
I would love to hear what you thought of Charlotte Crosby’s Brand New Me in the comments.
