‘The Devil Wear’s Prada’s Emily gets the spin-off she deserves’ Cosmopolitan
Emily Charlton thrives on scandal. And there’s plenty in the upscale New York suburb of Greenwich, where the cocktails are extra strong, and the gossip is extra spicy. Because Karolina Hartwell – a gorgeous former supermodel and senator’s wife – is in very hot water. Arrested and deserted, she needs help – fast.
Emily’s oldest friend, Miriam, is a stay-at-home mom – but she’s also a lawyer. And Emily was taught by the most devilish master, Miranda Priestly. Together, the two women might just be the answer to Karonlina’s prayers.
Scratch the beautiful surface in Greenwich and the secrets come spilling out…

Why I chose to purchase this book:
I purchased this book at the Sydney airport while dashing to my plane that had already started boarding. It was going to be a two hour trip on a propeller plane. This meant no wifi onboard or TVs.
The cover and title stood out initially. Humour and satire is my favourite genre so the title intrigued me. Once I read that it was the sequel to the Devil Wears Prada I was already at the register swiping my card.
The Devil Wears Prada is an iconic movie, so the chances of me liking this book were high.
The book is narrated by 3 different people with 3 totally different lives. First off is Emily, who we know from Devil Wears Prada. She lives in LA with her husband and works in PR, mainly dealing with celebrity crises management it seems.
Miriam is a stay-at-home mom in Greenwich (a wealthy suburb out of New York). She is adjusting to this new role as previously she was a lawyer working in New York City. Emily and Miriam are good friends even though their lives are completely different.
Karolina is a senators wife living in DC who use to be a model. She is also friends with Miriam. Karolina is the reason the 3 girls end up spending so much time together as she requires Emily’s assistance.
I won’t go into too much detail, otherwise, I will spoil the entire storyline for you but I can say its got a couple of unexpected turns throughout the novel. I found the plot wasn’t overly obvious and cliche which I loved.
The 3 main characters are witty, smart and funny, just how I like it.
Should you read it?
If you are looking for a book that you can casually read once every couple of nights before then bed then When Life Gives You Lululemons is a great one for you. It’s in no way life-changing but it has its funny parts, it’s easy to follow along with and it’s enjoyable to read.
