How I came across Shopback
Earlier in the year shopback really pushed its social media marketing hard. It felt like every second youtuber I was watching was talking about Shopback. They would explain that all they were doing was clicking a button and earning money on their online shopping. To say I was sceptical was a real understatement. Even with youtubers I trusted, such as Brittany Saunders post about how easy it is to use, I still wanted to know more before signing up.
How Shopback works
The online stores on Shopbacks website pay them a commission every time a successful order is placed through the Shopback website or app. Shopback then shares that commission with us, the customer, as cashback!
There are hundreds of participating stores on the website. You can search by categories or just type in a brand.
Does Shopback actually work
To put it simply, yes!
You can see in the top right corner that I currently have $246.71 in cashbacks. At any point, I can transfer this money to my bank account or PayPal account. I have decided to keep all my cashbacks in the account until December and use the money for Christmas presents.
Not all cashbacks are aviable to withdraw immediatley. For example, I booked accomodation for my trip to Toyko on Expedia. Once I have stayed at the hotel and paid, I will then get to withdraw my $187 cashback.
How to find the biggest cashbacks
Once you sign up to Shopback, you will start to receive emails. They aren’t overly frequent which I love. From memory its a couple of emails a week. However, the difference with these emails is that I actually like getting them.
I do my grocery shopping at Woolworths weekly and usually, on Shopback you get 2.5% of what you spend back, however, every now and then they send an email where you can 7.5% back on your total shop. This is a good return so I always try to wait to do my big grocery shop and stock up on dry goods when they have this promotion.
Receiving the emails and looking for the top deals is the best way to get the best deals. Shopback also lets you know if any of the online stores are having sales. Below is an example of the emails you will receive.
Shopback also has a browser extension you can add to your computer. Once added you will get a little red popup in the top right corner and you just click activate.
