Lara Jean didn’t expect to really fall for Peter.
They had just been pretending. Except suddenly they weren’t. Now Lara Jean is more confused than ever.
Then another boy from her past returns to her life, and Lara Jean’s feelings for him return too.
Can a girl be in love with two boys at the same time?
From the best selling author of The Summer I Turned Pretty comes the irresistible sequel to All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.
Why I chose to purchase this book:
P.S I Still Love You, is a sequel of another book, To All The Boy’s I’ve Loved Before which was turned into a Netflix movie. I watched the movie before reading the book which I always think is a mistake. Books always provide so much more detail and you get to know the characters more intimately.
When I found out that the movie was actually an adaption of a trilogy of books, I knew I had to read P.S I Still Love You before the movie came out on Valentines Day 2020.
Lucky for me, one of my best friends had the same idea and she had already purchased the book. Once she was done I quickly put my hand up to borrow it.
Thoughts:
Now even though I am approaching 30 years old, young adult genre books are probably my favourite. There always an easy read and you don’t have to think too much to follow along with the story.
I loved this book and I really hope the movie does it justice (edit, since watching the movie I can confirm it was a bit different from the book, obviously the book is a bit better but I still enjoyed the movie).
The main character, Lara Jean, isn’t the typical teenager normally portrayed in books and film. Firstly she is of Korean descent which is amazing. I am so sick of every American teenager being a white blonde girl. Secondly, her family has suffered the tragic loss of their mother so her family dynamic isn’t the standard perfect American family. Finally, she isn’t the most popular girl at school and she loves staying home, spending time with her family and baking.
I found this all so refreshing. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good gossip girl novel where the characters are partying and getting up to no good but it’s refreshing seeing Lara Jean be more relatable.
The story follows on from the previous book however this time Lara Jean has two boys vying for her attention. All of the same characters are in this second instalment which makes it even easier to read as you aren’t learning about a bunch of new people.
Should you read it?
In my opinion YES! If you love teen love stories then P.S I Still Love You is right up your alley.
Obviously make sure you read the first book, or watch the To All the Boys I Loved Before movie on Netflix before reading P.S I Still Love You as it will make zero sense otherwise.
This is a super easy, fun read. You aren’t really going to learn anything or get so invested that you start crying but you are going to have a book that you will enjoy reading on a Sunday afternoon on the couch.
I would love to hear what you thought Jenny Han’s P.S I Still Love You in the comments.
